Being a senior in an all freshman class has been very interesting. I have had fun watching the freshman and being able to see how much I have grown up since I was in their shoes. I have tried my hardest to be mature and be a good example for the entire freshman. Mrs.Lundquist you do a great job at teaching this class and dealing with all the challenges that come with this class.
I think that Online Experience B is a great class. It has taught me a lot about computers that I would have never known about. I think that our generation assumes we know everything about computers and technology and that is not true at all. I enjoyed doing the projects and it was fun to try something new and see how it turned out. I think this course challenges your patience and creativity, but is not over bearing and out of control because it is too hard. I have enjoyed my time in this class and am thankful that even as a senior I was able to able to take it.
My favorite project in this class was the, "All About Me" digital story presentation. I enjoyed gathering the pictures to go along with each slide and putting them together to tell a story about my life. The project really opened my eyes and made me realize my time in high school is coming to an end. I enjoy doing the audio and recording part for these presentations as well because it is interesting to see your words on paper come to life. Even though we did not share them with the class, this project is something I will always be able to use and show to others.
My least favorite project was working with the excel sheets. The weather report project was especially bad because finding the weather for all 50 states was not easy at all. I do not enjoy working with excel because it is still somewhat unfamiliar to me. I think that using excel challenged me the most during this trimester and that may also be a reason why I didn't enjoy doing the excel project. The projects were also the least interesting and had no personality or creativity needed for them, which I always thought was fun to do for the other projects.
One tool that was introduced to me that I plan to keep on using is Google Docs. I complained about it in the beginning of the trimester because as time went on it helped me so much. I know use it for my projects in my other classes as well. I love how you can access it on any computer or device that has internet. Using Google Docs makes things so much easier since you can access it anywhere because I can start a project at school and not have to worry about saving it to a jump drive or emailing it to myself. I know that Google docs will be a huge help next year in college.
A tool that I plan to use a lot next year at college is Quizlet. I always make flashcards to study with and they seem to help me the most, but making them is a total pain. With Quizlet you are able to type them which is ten times easier and you also have the browser ready to use so finding the information for the flashcards is now simple and fast. I also enjoy the quizzes and games that you can use once you make your flashcards to help you memorize and study the information you need to know. I am sure next year at college there will be plenty of information that I will need to know, so I plan on book marking the Quizlet website and using it frequently.
I think that you do the best that you can teaching this class considering the kids you have to deal with and these moody computers working sometimes but not working most of the time. I think that you shouldn't care so much about the quality of work that people do because that is their choice if they want to do it poorly and it is not your responsibility. But you are extremely caring and nice so I know it's extremely hard for you to not care. Also when you set a deadline you should stick with it because every other class assigns hours of homework and there is no reason for you to not assign any as well. Every student has access to a computer somewhere so there are no excuses for them to not get the project done. I would also eliminate the use of the blog if you plan on using Google Docs more because it is easier to use and share with you. Again I have enjoyed this class so much, but I think that most of the reason is because I had you as my teachers for both Online A and B. Thank you for not babying me and treating me like a freshman. I will forever remember this experience and you.
