Evaluating Websites
After completing the first activity I came to the conclusion that the first website Google Gulp Drink has no true information. There is no author or any way to contact any type of organization to get information about the drink. There is also no way to buy a bottle of this drink. The second webpage Alumni Foil Deflector Beanie I think contains some true information. There is an author and an email address that you can contact. It also shows when it was last updated and gives you some background information, a FAQ and contains a blog. Of the two websites I would use the second one over the first.
If I had to write a report about Mankato, Minnesota of the three websites I would use the second one. It was the official website of the city. It was also the best organized and the easiest to navigate around and find things. The webpage has several different tabs that allow you to find out the history of the town, activities and services that you can do while there, the government and rules of the town and even a help center if you still have questions. They offer contact information to many different places and services in the town and even provide you with a map. I feel as though that this website would be able to provide me with the most information.
The discussions in class over the past two days have helped me a lot. Before I did not know what the different domain names meant, such as .edu was only used for college webpage’s. I also have a better of what a reliable page should contain versus one that might not be accurate. Before this class I did not know what the Boolean operators were either but know that I do I plan on using them to narrow my searches when looking for specific information. I am enjoying all of the new helpful internet tips that I am learning.

Citation Activity
Citing use to consist of going to the library, looking up a book that might contain the information you need, finding the book and then obtaining the information from that book and citing what you used. But with all the new technology and the wonderful internet we are saved from having to go through that hassle to cite and give credit to someone’s information we use in our research.
There are many different websites you can use to cite information such as Citation Machine, Easybib and SourceAid Citation Builder. They all have the same objective; to help you correctly cite information you have used. But they all function slightly different and the site you enjoy most will come down to your own opinion. My favorite site to use of the three was Easybib because it has helpful tips that pop up for every fill in that is required and made the process much easier. I also like it because there is an autocite bar where you could type in something you wanted to cite and if it is popular it will generate an already made cite for you. I found Citation Machine and Source Aid very hard to follow and understand what information needed to go where. Both of these websites are simpler but I personally think it makes them harder to use because they do not have any helpful tips on what information needs to be going where. All three websites do make citing easier than what it used to be so which one you use just comes down to your personal preference.

Response Question ~ Theodore
4. Theodore Roosevelt had served as President of the United States for two terms. He decided to try for a third term in 1912. This time he ran as a third party candidate and lost the election. In addition to losing the election, he no longer was respected as people felt like he had cost the Republican party the White House. After the election was over, Teddy was suffering from depression. He decided to travel to South America to speak at an event and visit his son, Kermit. While there, he was given the chance to go on a journey to explore and map out Brazil’s River of Doubt. It was a treacherous river with many rapids and waterfalls. Also, the river was located in the Amazon and that area was filled with deadly weather, reptiles and other perils.
Teddy quickly figured out that he and the entire group was ill-prepared for the journey. They lacked the proper equipment, food and other basic needs. Before the journey was over, Teddy became very ill with malaria and other infections. He always carried a vial of morphine with him and at a point in the journey he was going to quietly take the morphine and end his own life. He was going to do that to save his son because he did not want to be a burden to his son. However, Kermit let him know very quickly that he would not leave him in the Amazon dead or alive and that it would be easier for him to get his father out alive rather than dead.
Teddy and the group made it out of the Amazon. The river was eventually renamed the Rio Roosevelt. His health was never quite the same after the journey was over.
